Psychometric Assessments in Cape Town for Learning, Career, and Neurodivergent Profiles

Psychometric, psychoeducational, career and subject choice assessments for children, students and adults, offering clear, practical insight through a thoughtful, neurodivergent-affirming approach.

What does a Psychometrist do?

A psychometrist is a registered mental health professional trained to administer, score, and interpret standardised psychological assessments. These assessments help to build a clearer understanding of how a person thinks, feels, behaves, and processes information. They can assess areas such as cognitive functioning, emotional and behavioural patterns, personality, and neurodevelopmental differences. Assessments are often used to clarify a referral question, guide next steps, and contribute to a broader understanding as part of a psychological or psychiatric process.

When should I see a psychometrist?

You may benefit from a psychometric assessment if you are:

  • Seeking clarity around possible Autism, ADHD, or other neurodivergent traits.
  • Noticing challenges with attention, learning, memory, or emotional regulation.
  • Feeling unsure about your (or your child’s) learning, focus, or overall functioning
  • Wanting a clearer understanding of your strengths, challenges, or learning profile.
  • Needing support with subject choice, career direction, or future planning.
  • Requiring assessment for concessions or accommodations in an academic or workplace setting.

A referral is not required to book an assessment, and this can be discussed further during an initial enquiry.

A Neurodivergent-Affirming Approach

Lived Understanding

Assessments are conducted by a practitioner with a lived understanding of neurodivergence, allowing for a respectful, accommodating, and non-judgmental environment.

Reduced Sensory & Cognitive Load

Sessions are structured to reduce overwhelm, with clear expectations and a flexible pace where needed.

Strengths-Informed Perspective

Assessment feedback considers both strengths and challenges, with a focus on how strengths can be used to support areas of difficulty, working with your brain, not against it.

Empathy and Communication

Lived experience informs a thoughtful and empathetic approach to communication throughout the assessment process.
